Grief is weird.
You may be feeling: fatigued, confused, irritable, numb, anxious, and/or guilty.
These feelings? They are normal.
Grief is weird + you don’t have to go through it alone.
Welcome.
I am here to witness you through this.
Cady Brimacombe, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) #18814
MACP, Certified Grief-Informed Professional
Whether you are struggling with big emotions, hopelessness, or feeling like you don’t know who you are anymore–I can help you sort through the pieces of who you are becoming.
Therapy gives you the space to be seen in this identity shift. Because in grief, we often lose a sense of ourselves too. This is normal. This is human. Together, we will honour the messy vulnerable process of being human.
Work With Me
I see clients (18+) for individual and intensive sessions over at Fernweh Wellness. Curious? I am accepting new clients in Canada (AB, SK, MB, ON, YT). Book in for a free 15-minute consultation.
“The people knew grief was not a sickness nor any kind of affliction, but a pain-filled testament of courageous praise they bore whomsoever their heart had lost.”
My Approach:
-
My counselling practice is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), an evidence-based therapy that looks at the internal relationship between parts and Self and how these internal relationships are affecting clients in real life. Attachment Theory helps identify what types of relationships parts and Self may have developed and how external relationships with partners/family/children/friends may be showing up for clients.
Humans are relational beings and our wellness is informed by understanding how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world.
-
My practice is grief-literate. I understand that grief is unique and presents in many ways. And that grief occurs throughout our life, not just when a loved one dies. Grief may occur when a partner ends a relationship (primary loss), and also when cooking dinner alone, missing that ex-partner’s family, and feeling lost about what the future holds now that you are single (secondary losses).
With a grief lens, I help clients name and identify not just the primary loss, but also these more ethereal secondary losses. We can name and normalize your grief, determine coping strategies, and make new meaning so that you feel less alone in your grief.
-
Foundational to my practice is the client-therapist relationship which means I engage clients in being active participants in the therapy process. Sessions are paced around client readiness and client feedback is encouraged. I aim to provide a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space for clients where you can feel accepted and understood.
I am LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive and work to be culturally considerate. I value approaching healing within the client’s worldview and with wisdom from client lived experience.
